U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps
The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC or NSCC) is a congressionally chartered, U.S. Navy-sponsored organization that serves to teach individuals about the sea-going military services, U.S. naval operations and training, community service, citizenship, and an understanding of discipline and teamwork. The USNSCC is composed of two programs – the senior program for cadets age 13 through the age of 18, and the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), which is for cadets ages 10 through 13. History The NSCC was founded in 1958 by the Navy League of the United States at the request of the Department of the Navy. In 1962, the USNSCC was chartered under Title 36 of the United States Code as a non-profit youth organization with an emphasis towards the sea-going services of the United States. Arlington County is a County (United States), county in the Virginia, Commonwealth of Virginia. The Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) is a joint component command of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and is charged with studying special operations requirements and techniques to ensure interoperability and equipment standardization; to plan and conduct special operations exercises and training; to develop joint special operations tactics; and to execute special operations missions worldwide. Port Huron
Port Huron is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of St. Clair County. The population was 30,184 at the 2010 census. The city is adjacent to Port Huron Township but is administered separately. Located along the St. Clair River, it is connected to Point Edward, Ontario in Canada via the Blue Water Bridge. The city lies at the southern end of Lake Huron and is the easternmost point on land in Michigan. USNSCS Grayfox
The United States Naval Sea Cadet Ship (USNSCS) ''Grayfox'' (TWR-825) is a training ship, the largest owned by the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. It is homeported in Port Huron, Michigan and is used by the USNSCC for shipboard training. History United States Navy, 1985–1995 The ''Grayfox'' began its service in 1985 as one of ten 120-foot Torpedo Weapons Retriever. It was assigned to the United States Navy's Atlantic Undersea Testing and Evaluation Center ( AUTEC) on Andros Island, Bahamas. Due to the decreasing threat of torpedoes, the Navy put it out of use in 1995 and transferred it to the USNSCC on August 15, 1997. U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, 1997–present All of the torpedo rollers were removed from the after deck and returned to AUTEC.
