"İstiklal Marsi " (; ) is the national anthem of both Turkey and Northern Cyprus. It was officially adopted by TBMM, Grand National Assembly on 12 March 1921—two-and-a-half years before the 29 October 1923 establishment of the nation—both as a motivational musical saga for the troops fighting in the Turkish War of Independence, and as an aspirational anthem for a Republic that was yet to be established. Mustafa Şentop (born on 6 August 1968) is a Turkish politician from the Justice and Development Party (AKP) who has served as the Member of Parliament for Istanbul in the 24, 25, 26th legislative terms. Fuat Oktay (born 1964) is a Turkish politician, civil servant and academic serving as the first and current vice president of Turkey since 10 July 2018. An independent, he previously served as undersecretary to the prime minister of Turkey from 2016 until his appointment to the vice presidency, following the creation of the office after the 2017 constitutional referendum.
