Tälesbahn (Geislingen–Wiesensteig)
Tälesbahn is a standard gauge railway in Baden-Württemberg. History The branch line from Geislingen an der Steige to Wiesensteig was inaugurated on 21 October 1903. In the early years the Tälesbahn served primarily for passenger transport and the transport of goods for the holdings situated in the region. The section from Geislingen to Stauferstollen was electrified since 12 December 1937 due to the heavy ore trains. Decommissioning The section from Deggingen to Wiesensteig was shut down in 1968 for passengers and freight. Until Deggingen passenger traffic was maintained until 1 June 1980, the freight transport to 29 September 1981. To mark the 150th anniversary of the Geislinger Steige in 2000, tours with the local train, run by the railway friends of Ulm-Amstetten, from Geislingen station to Geislingen-Altenstadt were offered. Geislingen An Der Steige
Geislingen an der Steige is surrounded by the heights of the Swabian Alb and embedded in 5 beautiful valleys. It is a town in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. The name relates to its location "on the climb" (''an der steige'') of a trade route over the Swabian Jura mountain range. Bad Überkingen
Bad Überkingen is a municipality in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History The three towns of Bad Überkingen, Hausen an der Fils, and Unterböhringen were ceded by the Free Imperial City of Ulm to the Electorate of Bavaria in 1802. In 1810, Bavaria ceded the three towns to the Kingdom of Württemberg, whose government assigned them to . Bad Überkingen was allowed to append the prefix "Bad" to its name in 1927. Deggingen
Deggingen is a municipality in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History The House of Helfenstein ruled Deggingen until it went extinct in 1627. Deggingen and the town of Reichenbach im Täle were annexed by the Kingdom of Württemberg when, in 1806, the Lordship of Wiesensteig was mediatized to them. The two towns were assigned to until 1810, when they were reassigned to . That district was reorganized as Landkreis Göppingen, which retained Deggingen and Reichenbach im Täle. Bad Ditzenbach
Bad Ditzenbach ( Swabian: ''Ditzebach'') is a municipality in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. History The townships of Ditzenbach, , and were, until German mediatization in 1806, possessions of the House of Helfenstein. They were awarded to the Kingdom of Württemberg, a state that had come to control most of the surrounding territory between 1422 and 1455. The town was placed within Württemberg's administrative structure in until 1810, when it was transferred to . The nearby village of Auendorf had already mostly been a possession of Württemberg before mediatization. Auendorf and Gosbach were assigned to until transfer in 1808 to Oberamt Wiesensteig. Mühlhausen im Täle is a municipality of the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History Mühlhausen im Täle was first mentioned in 812.
