Tristeza, Rio Grande Do Sul
Tristeza (meaning ''Sadness'' in Portuguese) is a neighbourhood in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959. The neighbourhood was named after José da Silva Guimarães's nickname, ''Tristeza'', who was its first dweller. Tristeza embraces people from upper middle class to upper class, mainly in the three long blocks near the Guaíba Lake and in the Sétimo Céu area, that, although it's officially part of Tristeza, it looks more like Vila Conceição, because both were founded as the same batch of houses, the ''Vila Conceição'' batch. Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is a viral species of the genus ''Closterovirus'' that causes the most economically damaging disease to its namesake plant genus, ''Citrus''. The disease has led to the death of millions of ''Citrus'' trees all over the world and has rendered millions of others useless for production. Farmers in Brazil and other South American countries gave it the name "tristeza", meaning sadness in Portuguese and Spanish, referring to the devastation produced by the disease in the 1930s. The virus is transmitted most efficiently by the brown citrus aphid. The pathogen CTV is a flexuous rod virus with dimensions of 2000 nm long and 12 nm in diameter. The CTV genome is typically between 19.2 and 19.3 kb long and consists of a single strand of (+)-sense RNA enclosed by two types of capsid proteins. Tristeza is an American post-rock band. The band is currently based in Oakland, California, and was established in San Diego in 1997. Biography The group formed in San Diego in 1997, and included Christopher Sprague, Luis Hermosillo, Jimmy LaValle (The Album Leaf), James Lehner, and Stephen Swesey. This line-up recorded all material that was released through 2003, including the albums ''Spine and Sensory'' (1999) and ''Dream Signals in Full Circles'' (2000). The ''Spine and Sensory'' album was recorded at Tim Green's Louder Studios, a basement studio in San Francisco. It took one week to record and mix the album in the Autumn of 1998. Green has since left San Francisco and moved his studio to Grass Valley, California. In January 2003, Tristeza played its last concert with Jimmy LaValle as a main member, but he has joined the band occasionally since. ''Look Around'' is the third studio album by Sérgio Mendes and Brasil '66. It was released in 1967. Following this album, Mendes dismissed the musicians and singer Janis Hansen and brought in Karen Phillip to sing with holdover Lani Hall. Songs Mendes and Brasil 66 performed the Oscar-nominated Burt Bacharach/Hal David song " The Look of Love", one of their biggest hits, on the Academy Awards telecast in March 1968. The album was recorded at the Sunset Sound, Western Recorders, and Annex Studios, Hollywood. Brasil '66's version of "The Look of Love" quickly shot into the top 10, eclipsing Dusty Springfield's version. Baden Powell de Aquino (; 6 August 1937 – 26 September 2000), known professionally as Baden Powell, was a Brazilian guitarist. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and MPB. He performed on stage during most of his lifetime.
