Barry Palmer (British Singer)
Barry Palmer (born 1958) is an English singer. He was a replacement for singer Helmut Köllen in the German band Triumvirat in 1976, and appeared on the albums '' Old Loves Die Hard'' and ''Pompeii'' in 1977. He later joined Mike Oldfield on his ''Discovery'' album in 1984, sharing vocals with Maggie Reilly. He has also released two solo albums. Biography and career Born in Worcestershire, England, Palmer began his singing career in the early 1970s when he joined Scarborough-based band Brave New World as their lead singer. Brave New World were a five-piece band who played all their own original material but were also influenced by bands such as Family, Fairport Convention and Wishbone Ash. After Brave New World disbanded in 1972/73, Palmer pursued a solo singing career and released his first single titled "Always". Maggie Reilly
Maggie Reilly (born 15 September 1956) is a Scottish singer best known for her collaborations with the composer and instrumentalist Mike Oldfield. Most notably, she performed lead vocals on the Oldfield songs " Family Man", "Moonlight Shadow", "To France", and "Foreign Affair", all of which were international hits in the early 1980s. ''Discovery'' is the ninth studio album by English multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Mike Oldfield, released on 25 June 1984 on Virgin Records. It comprises a number of pop songs, most notably the single "To France", as well as the instrumental "The Lake". Background and recording After his 1983 tour, Oldfield relocated to Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland for tax purposes and started work on a new album. The album was recorded from January to June 1984. Sessions typically ran from 10:30 a.m. to around 7 p.m. each day. While living in Villars, Oldfield also composed the soundtrack to ''The Killing Fields'' (1984). Selections from the two were released as ''The 1984 Suite'', in 2016.
