Trees Outside The Academy
''Trees Outside the Academy'' is the second solo studio album by American musician Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. It was released on September 18, 2007, and was Moore's follow up of 1995's ''Psychic Hearts''. It was released on Moore's own label, Ecstatic Peace! and recorded with Sonic Youth's drummer Steve Shelley and violinist Samara Lubelski. The recording took place at Dinosaur Jr guitarist J. Mascis' home studio. Mascis also contributed lead guitar for some tracks. It features the track "Thurston @ 13" which is, "Some weird cassette tape that Thurston found at his mom's of him at 13 years old in the early '70s performing some kind of odd sound-theatre." The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, barely missing the Billboard 200. Thurston Moore
Thurston Joseph Moore (born July 25, 1958) is an American musician best known as a member of Sonic Youth. He has also participated in many solo and group collaborations outside Sonic Youth, as well as running the Ecstatic Peace! record label. Moore was ranked 34th in ''Rolling Stone''s 2004 edition of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." In 2012, Moore started a new band Chelsea Light Moving. Chelsea Light Moving eponymous debut was released on March 5, 2013. Since 2015, Chelsea Light Moving has been disbanded after one studio album release. Moore and the other members of the band continue to make music under his solo project and other bands. Dinosaur Jr
Dinosaur Jr. is an American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984, originally simply called Dinosaur until legal issues forced a change in name. The band was founded by J Mascis (guitar, vocals, primary songwriter), Lou Barlow (bass, vocals), and Murph (drums). After three albums on independent labels, the band earned a reputation as one of the formative influences on American alternative rock. Creative tension led to Mascis firing Barlow, who later formed Sebadoh and Folk Implosion. His replacement, Mike Johnson, came aboard for three major-label albums. Murph eventually quit, with Mascis taking over drum duties on the band's albums before the group disbanded in 1997. The original lineup reformed in 2005, releasing five albums thereafter. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
