Toorbul is a coastal town and a locality in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Toorbul had a population of 930 people. Geography Toorbul is north of Brisbane. Toorbul is bounded on the east by Pumicestone Channel which separates mainland Queensland from Bribie Island. It is bounded to the north by Elimbah Creek and to the south by Ningi Creek, both which flow into the Pumicestone Channel. There are a number of low flat islands immediately off the coast which are included within the locality including Parrot Island and Shag Island. The town is located along the north-east coast of the locality. Pumicestone Road connects the entire locality running from the west (Caboolture) through to the town on the eastern coast. Donnybrook is a coastal town and locality in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Donnybrook had a population of 617 people. Geography Donnybrook is north of Brisbane, the state capital. The closest major population centre is Caboolture, to the west. The town of Donnybrook is on the coast of the Australian mainland but is separated by the narrow Pumicestone Passage from Bribie Island. History The town name was approved by the Queensland Place Names Board on 1 October 1975. The name appears to be derived from a corroboree site, or because of fights amongst oyster gatherers at weekend camps. Morayfield is a town and suburb in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the suburb of Morayfield had a population of 21,394 people. Morayfield is by road north of Brisbane CBD, the state capital. Geography Morayfield is a mostly residential area, consisting mainly of low-set brick homes and some semi-rural acreage. Bribie Island
Bribie Island is the smallest and most northerly of three major sand islands forming the coastline sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. The others are Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island. Bribie Island is long, and at its widest. Archibald Meston believed that the name of the island came from a corruption of a mainland word for it, ''Boorabee'' meaning ''koala''. However, the correct Joondaburri name for the island is in fact ''Yarun''. Bribie Island hugs the coastline and tapers to a long spit at its most northern point near Caloundra, and is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage. The ocean side of the island is somewhat sheltered from prevailing winds by Moreton Island and associated sand banks and has only a small surf break. Pumicestone Passage
Pumicestone Channel, also known as the Pumicestone Passage, is a narrow waterway between Bribie Island and the mainland in Queensland, Australia. The northern extent of the passage is at Caloundra, while at the south is Deception Bay. The waterway is a two way tidal estuary that has 11 creeks flowing into it. At each end of the passage the channels are the deepest and widest. During periods of unusually high tides and large waves, the passage is infiltrated by inflows through channels in dunes at the northern tip of Bribie Island.
