''Toopy and Binoo'' (french: Toupie et Binou) is a Canadian children's Flash animated television series produced by Spectra Animation and broadcast by PBS Kids and Treehouse in English and Télé-Québec in French. It is based on the children's book ''Toupie et Binou''. Another television series was produced as a live action spin-off show titled ''Toopy and Binoo Vroom Vroom Zoom'', produced by Echo Media, a successor to Spectra Animation, which was developed into a mobile app still available for iOS. The show was licensed by American Public Television in 2009 for distribution to public television stations in the United States. A total of 175 episodes were produced overall. On May 26, 2021, it was announced that an 80-minute feature film was scheduled to release in theaters in 2022 with an unconfirmed release date. Dominique Jolin
Dominique Jolin, born October 24, 1964 in Quebec, is a writer, illustrator, scriptwriter and content producer. She is the creator of the characters Toopy and Binoo. Biography After university studies in youth literature, creative writing and scriptwriting, she published her first children's album in 1992, ''It's Not Fair!'' which earned her the Mr. Christie's Book Award. Since then, she has written and/or illustrated a hundred children's albums published in French, English, Spanish, Catalan and Korean, many of which have won her awards and distinctions. In 1996, she created two outstanding characters: Toopy and Binoo. In 2005, Dominique Jolin presented her characters to a production company, Spectra animation. Then, in collaboration with Raymond Lebrun, author and director, she adapted her literary series Toopy and Binoo into an animated television series.
