Todd Prichard
Todd Prichard (born 1974) is a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 52nd district. Prichard was first elected in a January 22, 2013 special election. Prichard was considering running for governor in 2018, but dropped out of the race. On June 2, 2021, Prichard announced that he would step down from his position as House Minority Leader. The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the upper house, the Iowa Senate, state House representatives serve two-year terms with the whole chamber up for re-election in even-numbered years. There are no term limits for the House. 2018 Iowa Gubernatorial Election
The 2018 Iowa gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018. Incumbent Republican Governor Kim Reynolds ran for election to a full term, facing Democratic businessman Fred Hubbell, Libertarian Jake Porter, and independent candidate Gary Siegwarth. On Election Day, Reynolds won 50.3% of the vote, a 2.8% margin of victory, and carried 88 of Iowa's 99 counties. She became the first female governor of Iowa elected in her own right. Mark D. Smith (born January 5, 1952) is an American politician who has served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives since 2001. Early life and education Smith was born and raised in Osceola, Iowa. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Graceland College and a Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa. Career Smith works on the Substance Abuse Treatment Unit of Central Iowa and as an adjunct instructor of social work at the University of Iowa. Smith serves on the Commission on Tobacco User Prevention and Control and on the Iowa Comprehensive Health Insurance Board. Prior to serving in the Iowa House of Representatives, Smith served on the Osceola, Iowa, Osceola City Council from 1981 to 1983.
