Tim Scott (American Football)
Tim Scott (born January 25, 1993) is a former American football safety in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. He played college football at the University of North Carolina. Early years Scott attended Colonial Forge High School. In football, he was a four-year starter, while playing at safety, wide receiver, running back and kick returner. As a junior, he tallied 13 receptions for 221 yards, one receiving touchdown, 22 carries for 173 yards and one rushing touchdown. As a senior, he received District defensive player of the year, second-team All-Washington Metro and All-Fredericksburg honors. He also practiced basketball. College career Scott accepted a football scholarship from the University of North Carolina. As a true freshman he appeared in 13 games with 8 starts at cornerback. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. The 2015 NFL Draft was the 80th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. It took place in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre and in Grant Park, from April 30 to May 2. The previous fifty NFL drafts (since 1965) had been held in New York City.
