Tim Caldwell (cricketer)
Tim Charles John Caldwell, OBE, BEM (29 October 1913 – 17 June 1994) was an Australian cricketer who played first-class cricket for New South Wales from 1935 to 1937. He served as Chairman of the Australian Cricket Board from 1972 until 1975 and was a senior executive with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. Early life Caldwell was born in the Brisbane suburb of Clayfield, Queensland, and educated at Brisbane Grammar School and Newington College (1927–1930). He was a right arm fast medium bowler and right-handed batsman for Northern Districts. Banking career On leaving school, Caldwell joined the English, Scottish and Australian Bank and at the time of his retirement was National Assistant general manager, and NSW general manager, of the same organisation, but by then known as the ANZ. Clayfield, Queensland
Clayfield is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Clayfield had a population of 10,555 people. Geography Clayfield is by road from the Brisbane GPO. Clayfield is bordered to the north by Nundah, to the east by Ascot and Hendra, to the west by Wooloowin and to the south by Albion. Its name derives from the fine white-grey sedimentary clay mined in Albion, between Morgan and Sykes Street, used in the brickworks that once existed between Oriel Road and Reeve Street near Sandgate Road. The English, Scottish & Australian Bank Limited was an Australian bank founded in 1852 by Royal Charter in London and named English, Scottish and Australian Chartered Bank. Following a financial reconstruction in 1893 its business was renamed English, Scottish and Australian Bank Limited. Sir Donald George Bradman, (27 August 1908 – 25 February 2001), nicknamed "The Don", was an Australian international cricketer, widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time. Marylebone Cricket Club
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is a cricket club founded in 1787 and based since 1814 at Lord's Cricket Ground, which it owns, in St John's Wood, London. The club was formerly the governing body of cricket retaining considerable global influence. In 1788, the MCC took responsibility for the laws of cricket, issuing a revised version that year. Changes to these Laws are now determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC), but the copyright is still owned by MCC. When the ICC was established in 1909, it was administered by the secretary of the MCC, and the president of MCC automatically assumed the chairmanship of ICC until 1989. Northern Districts Cricket Club
The Northern Districts Cricket Club ("Jets") is a semi-professional cricket club in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the South Australian Grade Cricket Competition, which is administered by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). The club entered the SACA competition in season 1997/98 as the result of the amalgamation of the Elizabeth and Salisbury District Cricket Clubs. In 2004/05 the Jets won the SACA Grade Competition premiership. Sheffield Shield
The Sheffield Shield (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Marsh Sheffield Shield) is the domestic first-class cricket competition of Australia. The tournament is contested between teams from the six states of Australia. Sheffield Shield is named after Lord Sheffield. Prior to the Shield being established, a number of intercolonial matches were played. The Shield, donated by Lord Sheffield, was first contested during the 1892–93 season, between New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. Queensland was admitted for the 1926–27 season, Western Australia for the 1947–48 season, and Tasmania for the 1977–78 season. The competition is contested in a double- round-robin format, with each team playing every other team twice, i.e. home and away.
