Thomas Hope Hospital
Thomas Hope Hospital is a health facility in Strand Street, Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is managed by NHS Dumfries and Galloway. History The facility was financed by a large legacy from Thomas Hope, a retailing entrepreneur who had worked in the United States. It was designed by John Henry Townsend Wodd in the Jacobean style and opened as the Thomas Hope Hospital for the Poor in 1897. The design included an octagonal mortuary. Langholm
Langholm , also known colloquially as the "Muckle Toon", is a burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, southern Scotland. Langholm lies between four hills in the valley of the River Esk in the Southern Uplands. Location and geography Langholm sits north of the Anglo-Scottish border on the A7 road running between Edinburgh and Carlisle. The Jacobean style is the second phase of Renaissance architecture in England, following the Elizabethan style.
