This Charming Girl
''This Charming Girl'' (; lit. "Woman, Jeong-hae" or "Girl, Jeong-hae") is a South Korean drama film written and directed by Lee Yoon-ki. Plot Jeong-hae's life is as monotonous as her job at the post office. Her apartment, which is not far from where she works, is filled with things she has bought through the home shopping network; only a stray cat waits to greet her each day. On Sunday afternoons, she sits on her veranda with her cat listening to children play below; she loves this time the most. In her life, this is probably the most peaceful time. Jeong-hae's childhood memories include her mother with a pencil in one hand and a cigarette in the other, quietly drawing and writing. Lee Yoon-ki
Lee Yoon-ki (; born 1965), is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Career Lee Yoon-ki earned his Master of Arts, MA in business administration/economics at the University of Southern California. After returning to Korea, he worked as a producer and director of several short films. His first feature, ''This Charming Girl'', attracted much attention from major film festivals, including Sundance Film Festival, Sundance and Berlin International Film Festival, Berlin. His second feature, ''Love Talk'', was invited to compete at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and his third and fourth features, ''Ad-lib Night'' and ''My Dear Enemy'' were both critically acclaimed. Since his debut, Lee has emerged as one of Korea's leading sources of small-budgeted, intimate dramas about ordinary people. The Korean Film Awards was a South Korean film awards ceremony hosted by the broadcasting network MBC from 2002 to 2010. History Originally named the MBC Film Awards, the ceremony was first established in 2002. It was renamed the Korean Film Awards in 2003. Votes were determined from a jury of 500 film professionals and 500 viewers selected through the internet, using a 7:3 ratio. In 2009, failure to secure sponsors during the global economic recession resulted in the cancellation of that year's ceremony. It resumed in 2010, with Hyundai Motor Company as the main sponsor.
