The Way (Fastball Song)
"The Way" is a song by American alternative rock band Fastball. It was released on January 7, 1998, as the lead single from their second studio album, ''All the Pain Money Can Buy'' (1998). The song was written by the band's lead vocalist, Tony Scalzo, and was produced by the band and Julian Raymond. Scalzo was inspired to write the song after reading about the disappearance of an elderly couple who were found dead in their car many miles away from their original destination. "The Way" peaked at number one on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart in April 1998 and remained there for seven weeks. It also reached number one in Canada on the week of June 15, 1998, and topped the ''RPM'' Alternative 30 chart for four weeks. ''Vicious Cycle'' is the twelfth studio album by Lynyrd Skynyrd, released in 2003. It was the first album recorded by the band following the death of original bassist Leon Wilkeson, who appears on two songs, "The Way" and "Lucky Man", and the song "Mad Hatter" is a tribute to him. This marks the first album by the band to feature Santeri Kallio on keyboards who performed as a session member and joined the band after in 1998. The album is named from Tuonela, the realm of the dead in Finnish mythology. "The Way"/"Solitaire" is the second commercial double A-side CD single by Clay Aiken released on March 16, 2004, on the RCA label. The record peaked at number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and was certified platinum. In the summer of 2004, a cover of Neil Sedaka's "Solitaire" replaced "This Is the Night" as the bonus track on new versions of Aiken's album, '' Measure of a Man''.
