The Skateboard Mag
''The Skateboard Mag'' was an independently published American skateboarding magazine that published over 100 issues (in 2005 its circulation was approximately 90,000) and featured professional skateboarder, Danny Way, on the cover of its inaugural issue, depicted mid-air while executing a gap to noseblunt slide on a construction known as the "Mega Ramp". As of February 2005, the publication was owned by a group that consists of seven partners, while the magazine employed eleven full-time staff members. In 2014 it became a part of a website and in 2017 its existence on the website stopped. A skate magazine, or skateboard magazine, is a magazine dedicated to skateboarding. History The first mention of skateboarding in a magazine was in 1963 when the publisher of the “Surf Guide Magazine,” Larry Stevenson, published the first advertisement for skateboards in his magazine. The first skateboarding magazine “The Quarterly Skateboarder” was published in 1964. Skateboarder Magazine launched in 1975. In 1981, Thrasher Magazine was founded. Slap magazine existed as a monthly print magazine from 1992 through 2008. Concrete Wave Magazine was founded in 2002. Danny Way
Danny Way (born April 15, 1974) is an American professional skateboarder, company owner and rallycross driver who has been awarded ''Thrasher'' magazine's "Skater of the Year" award twice. He is known for extreme stunts, such as jumping into a skateboard ramp from a helicopter; that was featured on the cover of ''Transworld Skateboarding'' magazine. One of his more notable stunts was jumping the Great Wall of China on a skateboard via megaramp. Early life Way was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in San Diego, California. Atiba Jefferson (born November 30, 1976) is an American photographer and skateboarder. Photography career Jefferson has photographed skateboarding extensively for over 20 years, working for skate magazines such as Slap, Thrasher, Juxtapoz, Transworld, and many others. Atiba is currently a staff photographer for Thrasher Magazine. In addition to skateboarding photography, Jefferson works as a commercial photographer shooting portraiture and lifestyle advertisements for clients such as the NBA, Nike, and many others. In addition to skateboarding photography, Jefferson has an interest in basketball and music photography. Fabian Alomar
Fabian Alomar is an American pro Skateboarding, skateboarder and actor born and raised in Echo Park, Los Angeles. He began skateboarding in the 1990s and became pro by 1996. He was arrested a few times and narrowly avoided a Three-strikes law, third-strike life prison sentence in 2013. His career was revitalized with the help of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition and other supporters such as Danny Trejo. He has been cast in several shows, including ''Mayans M.C.'' (2021–) and ''This Fool'' (2022–). Early life Alomar was born into a poor neighborhood where violence was frequent. Gang culture was prevalent in the area, which personally affected his household. His father and brother both went to prison for long sentences for violent crimes when Alomar was young. Kareem Campbell
Kareem Campbell (born November 14, 1973) is an American professional skateboarding, skateboarder. He is known for popularizing the skateboard trick "The Ghetto Bird" which is a nollie hardflip late 180°. Skateboarding career Kareem Campbell was an innovative professional skateboarder in the 1990s. He was featured in the World Industries videos ''New World Order'', ''20 Shot Sequence'', and ''Trilogy'', which are regarded as classics to many skateboarders. He has been called the godfather of smooth Street skateboarding, street style. He eventually went on to spawn another company of his own under the Dwindle Distribution umbrella, though he continued to ride for World Industries. He also helped found Axion Shoes.
