''The Prince of Egypt'' is a 1998 American animated musical drama film produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by DreamWorks Pictures. The first feature film from DreamWorks to be traditionally animated, it is an adaptation of the Book of Exodus and follows the life of Moses from being a prince of Egypt to a Prophet of The Lord, chosen by God to carry out his ultimate destiny of leading the Jews out of Egypt. Brenda Chapman
Brenda Chapman (born November 1, 1962) is an American animator, screenwriter, storyboard artist, and director. In 1998, she became the first woman to direct an animated feature from a major studio, DreamWorks Animation's ''The Prince of Egypt''. In 2012, she co-directed the Disney/Pixar film '' Brave'' with Mark Andrews and Steve Purcell, becoming the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Stephen Lawrence Schwartz (born March 6, 1948) is an American musical theater lyricist and composer.
