The New Right (Denmark)
New Right ( da, Nye Borgerlige) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist Danish political party. The party was founded in the autumn 2015 by Pernille Vermund and Peter Seier Christensen. In the 2019 general election New Right won four seats. The party has the party letter D, and its youth organisation is named Nye Borgerliges Ungdom (NBU) or in English (''New Right's Youth).'' In February 2021 the party was the third largest Danish party based on membership, only succeeded by the Social Democrats and Venstre. The party has in November the same year 18,000 members. Etymology The party's name includes the plural of the Danish word which literally translates to 'civic', derived from meaning 'citizen'. It is the usual Danish term for non-socialist parties in general, and the country's right-of-centre parties in particular. As a Marxist term, the word has the meaning 'bourgeoise'. Pernille Vermund
Ann Pernille Vermund Tvede (born 3 December 1975) is a Danish architect ( MAA) and politician known for co-founding and being the leader of the national-conservative political party Nye Borgerlige from 2015 until 2023. She was previously affiliated with the Conservative People's Party. She is currently a member of the Folketing, having been elected in the 2019 and 2022 Danish general elections. Background Vermund is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked as an architect before entering politics. She was the owner of the company Vermund Gere Arkitekter MAA. Vermund is divorced from her first husband and is the mother of three boys. In 2019, she married Danish author and businessman Lars Tvede. National conservatism is a nationalist variant of conservatism that concentrates on upholding national and cultural identity. The Danish Ministry of Social Affairs was re-created in 2010 as a split of the Social Welfare ministry created after the 2007 Folketing elections. Next Danish General Election
General elections are scheduled to be held in Denmark no later than 31 October 2026, according to § 32 in the constitution, which defines an election cycle as four years. All 179 seats in the Folketing will be up for election, 175 in Denmark proper, two in Greenland and two in the Faroe Islands. Background The previous general elections in 2022 were held on 31 October in the Faroe Islands and on 1 November in Denmark and Greenland. The elections led to a narrow victory for the red bloc. 2019 Danish General Election
General elections were held in the Kingdom of Denmark on 5 June 2019 to elect all 179 members of the Folketing; 175 in Denmark proper, two in the Faroe Islands and two in Greenland. The elections took place ten days after the European Parliament elections.
