The Grates
The Grates were an Australian indie rock band that formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 2002. They were brought to national attention in 2004 when a demo of their single "Trampoline" received airplay on radio station Triple J. Their first two albums, ''Gravity Won't Get You High'' (2006) and ''Teeth Lost, Hearts Won'' (2008), both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 10. Hodgson and Patterson were also proprietors of Southside Tea Room, a cafe and bar, in Morningside; the couple also married in November that year. Gravity Won't Get You High
''Gravity Won't Get You High'' is the debut studio album of Australian indie rock band the Grates. It was produced by Brian Deck, and features studio produced versions of songs from their EP ''The Ouch. The Touch.'' Notable differences are the usage of banjo and fiddle in "Sukkafish". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2006 the album was nominated for two awards; ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist - Album and ARIA Award for Best Cover Art. At the J Award of 2006, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. The album was also nominated for the 2006 Australian Music Prize. ''Rage'' (stylised as ''rage'') is an all-night Australian music video program broadcast on ABC TV on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and Saturday nights. It was first screened on the weekend of Friday, 17 April 1987. With ''Soul Train'' and '' Video Hits'' no longer being produced, it is the oldest music television program currently still in production as of 2021. On Friday and Saturday nights, ''Rage'' typically starts between 11:00pm and 1:00am. Multitrack recording (MTR), also known as multitracking or tracking, is a method of sound recording developed in 1955 that allows for the separate recording of multiple sound sources or of sound sources recorded at different times to create a cohesive whole. Multitracking became possible in the mid-1950s when the idea of simultaneously recording different audio channels to separate discrete "tracks" on the same reel-to-reel tape was developed. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992. Pixies (band)
Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts. Until 2013, the band consisted of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums). They disbanded acrimoniously in 1993 but reunited in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, Pixies hired Kim Shattuck as a touring bassist; she was replaced that year by Paz Lenchantin, who became a permanent member in 2016. Edward Charles Nimmervoll (21 September 1947 – 10 October 2014) was an Australian music journalist, author and historian. He worked on rock and pop magazines ''Go-Set'' (1966–1974) and ''Juke Magazine'' (1975–92) both as a journalist and as an editor. From 2000, Nimmervoll was editor of HowlSpace, a website detailing Australian rock/pop music history, providing artist profiles, news and video interviews.
