Tharuhat
Tharuwan is also the homeland of Tharu people in Terai region of Nepal. It comprises the 11 southwestern Terai districts of Nepal. The Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal () was a political party in Nepal. It was led by Bhanuram Chaudary. It merged with Nepal Loktantrik Forum in April 2017. Later the party joined Nepali Congress. The People's Freedom Party (, ''Nagrik Unmukti Party'') is a political party in Nepal. The party's primary base is in the Tharuhath region, especially Kailali district and Bardiya District, Bardiya district. History Formation and Registration The party was formed under the coordination of Member of House of Representatives (Nepal), House of Representatives, Resham Lal Chaudhary. Due to some acts of law, he could not chair the party, so his wife was chosen as chair instead. He left his former party, the People's Socialist Party, Nepal, claiming that it had become power-centric, forgetting the mandate provided by the citizens whom the leaders only used as a vote bank. The Nepal Loktantrik Forum (translation: ''Nepal Democratic Forum'') was a political party in Nepal. The party was established on April 5, 2017, after merging with the Madheshi Jana Adhikar Forum (Democratic), the Rastriya Janamukti Party (Democratic), and the Dalit Janajati Party. On October 16, 2017, Nepal Loktantrik Forum merged into the Nepali Congress. History The Nepal Democratic Forum underwent a series of frequent mergers between April and June 2017. First, the Tharuhat Tarai Party, led by Bhanu Ram Chaudhary, merged with the NLF on April 20, 2017. Tharu People
The Tharu people are an ethnic group indigenous to the Terai in southern Nepal and northern India. They speak Tharu languages. They are recognized as an official nationality by the Government of Nepal. In the Indian Terai, they live foremost in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Government of India recognizes the Tharu people as a scheduled tribe. Etymology The word (''thāru'') is thought to be derived from '' sthavir'' meaning follower of Theravada Buddhism. The Tharu people in the central Nepali Terai see themselves as the original people of the land and descendants of Gautama Buddha. Rana Tharu people of western Nepal connect the name to the Thar Desert and understand themselves as descendants of Rajputs who migrated to the forests in the 16th century.
