Tarva (Norway)
The Tarva islands are an archipelago in the municipality of Ørland in Trøndelag county, Norway. The largest and only populated island is Husøya and the other larger islands are Været and Karlsøya. There are also many smaller surrounding islets and skerries. The islands are located about west of the village of Nes on the mainland in Bjugn. Tarva is connected to the mainland via the Dybfest–Tarva Ferry. The islands were owned by the Austrått manor until 1858. The Royal Norwegian Air Force has a firing range on the western islands. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. It was created in 1687, then named Trondhjem County ( no, Trondhjems Amt); in 1804 the county was split into Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag by the King of Denmark-Norway, and the counties were reunited in 2018 after a vote of the two counties in 2016. The largest city in Trøndelag is the city of Trondheim. The administrative centre is Steinkjer, while Trondheim functions as the office of the county mayor. Both cities serve the office of the county governor; however, Steinkjer houses the main functions. Trøndelag county and the neighbouring Møre og Romsdal county together form what is known as Central Norway. A person from Trøndelag is called a ''trønder''. Austrått
Austrått or Austrått Manor ( no, Austråttborgen) is a manor in Ørland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Since the 10th century, Austrått has been the residence for many noblemen, noblewomen, and officials who played a significant role in Norwegian history. In historical records, Austrått can also be found written as ''Østråt'', ''Østeraat'', ''Østeraad'', ''Austaat'', and ''Austråt.'' The layout of the manor as it stands today is attributed to chancellor Ove Bjelke, for whom construction was completed around 1656. The manor house burned in 1916. Restoration was begun in the 1920s and completed in 1961. The manor house was previously part of a larger property, but the land is now independent from the manor house. The Norwegian state owns the manor house, which is administered by Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum in Trondheim. The manor is open for public tours from June until August. Tarva Chapel
Tarva Chapel ( no, Tarva kapell) is a chapel in Ørland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located at Nordbuen on the island of Husøya, the largest of the Tarva. It is an annex chapel in the Nes parish which is part of the Fosen prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The small, brown, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1972 by the people on the island. The church seats about 55 people. History The chapel was built on the site of the island's cemetery which was opened in 1921. The new chapel was completed in 1972 and consecrated on 8 October 1972. The altarpiece is said to have a picture painted by Sigvald A. Pettersen in 1972 with a motif from the stable in Bethlehem. The Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) ( no, Luftforsvaret, , The Air Defence) is the air force of Norway. It was established as a separate arm of the Norwegian Armed Forces on 10 November 1944. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The purpose was to co-operate on publishing encyclopaedias and dictionaries. The first volume of Store norske leksikon (SNL) was published in 1978.
