Talofofo Bay
Talofofo Bay is an inlet in the south-eastern coast of the island of Guam at the mouth of the Talofofo River in the village of Talo'fo'fo. Talofofo Bay is notable for being one of the most accessible brown sand beaches of Guam. This brown sand is the deposition from silt and sand from the Talofofo River, which provides a strong visual contrast from the white sand composed of ground coralline limestone found on most of the island. This bay is at the mouth of the largest and longest river on Guam, Talofofo River. This area is known to have hammerhead sharks, turtles, and other aquatic sea life. Due to the low lying cliffs that lead into the ocean, sharks are able to nest their eggs in the side rock pockets of the bay. Talo'fo'fo, Guam
Talo'fo'fo, formerly Talofofo, is a village located in the southern part of the United States territory of Guam, on the east coast. The village center is located in the hills above the coast, while the smaller coastal community below the cliff is known as Ipan. The village contains two golf courses. The Talofofo River is one of the longest rivers on the Pacific Ocean island of Guam. Aratama Maru
''Aratama Maru'' (Kanji:) was a merchant ship of the Empire of Japan. Launched in 1938, she was pressed into service as a munitions transport in World War II. She was struck by a torpedo fired from on April 8, 1944, while approaching Guam as part of a Japanese ammunition resupply convoy. Engulfed in flames, her crew abandoned her and were picked up by an escort vessel. After drifting for three days, the abandoned hull came to rest just inside the reef fringing Talofofo Bay on Guam's southeastern coast. While resting on the reef she split in half with the stern of the ship drifting off of the reef toward the Mariana Trench. The wreck was partially salvaged shortly afterward and was further salvaged in the 1960s, leaving only the hull remnants, the anchor with chain, and some elements of its superstructure. Inalåhan, Guam
Inalåhan (formerly, Inarajan) is a village located on the southeastern coast of the United States territory of Guam. The village's original Chamoru name, Inalåhan, was altered when transliterated during Spanish control of the island. History The village history predates the 1521 discovery of Guam by the Spanish. It was the home to the legendary Chief Gadao, and was one of the few villages with sizable populations at the end of Spanish rule in 1898. In 1950 it had a population of 1,494 with 814 living in the village itself. Today, it is the best preserved of the Spanish era villages and is known for its rich history and culture, and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
