Tākaka Aerodrome
The Tākaka Aerodrome serves the town of Tākaka, in the South Island of New Zealand. Description Tākaka Aerodrome is northwest of the town. State Highway 60 runs just south of Runway 36. It was established in 1940 and is owned by the Tasman District Council. There are two runways at the aerodrome. Runway 18/36 runs north–south and is long and wide. Runway 11/29 second crosses the runway 18/36 in a south-east to north-west direction and is long. Tākaka
Tākaka is a small town situated at the southeastern end of Golden Bay / Mohua, Golden Bay, at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island, located on the lower reaches of the Tākaka River. State Highway 60 (New Zealand), State Highway 60 runs through Takaka and follows the river valley before climbing over Tākaka Hill, to Motueka (57 km away) linking Golden Bay with the more populated coast of Tasman Bay to the southeast. Karamea Aerodrome
The Karamea Aerodrome serves the town of Karamea, in the South Island of New Zealand. It is a non certificated aerodrome located around northwest of the town. History Air services after 1929 earthquake The 1929 Murchison earthquake, Murchison earthquake of 17 June 1929 caused severe damage in the Karamea area, with all roads in the district closed and nearly all bridges damaged. The road from Westport, New Zealand, Westport to Karamea was severely damaged by large landslides which cut the community's road link for about two years. The earthquake disrupted efforts underway at the time to control an outbreak of diphtheria in the settlement and on 19 June, serum was delivered by air, with the aircraft landing on the beach. On 1 July 1929, a flight from Westport to Karamea brought a shortwave radio transmitter and radio operator to the town to help restore communications.
