The Women's EHF European League is an annual competition for women's handball clubs of Europe. It is organized by the European Handball Federation, EHF. It is currently the second-tier competition of European club handball, ranking only below the Women's EHF Champions League, EHF Champions League. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. Grit Jurack
Grit Jurack (born 22 October 1977) is a German former handball player, who played on the German women's national team. She was Top Scorer in the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship and included on the All-Star Team. and also obtained bronze medal in the championship. She won the Champions League with Viborg HK in 2009 and was the top scorer of the tournament with 113 goals. She ended her handball career on 7 October 2012 due to a shoulder injury. She holds both the record for most matches and most goals for the German National Team, as well as the second most international goals overall. Bojana Popović née Petrović, (born 20 November 1979) is a handball coach and a retired Montenegrin handballer. She is considered by many to be the best female handball player of the 2000's, despite not being given any official recognition. After winning the Women's EHF Champions League with Budućnost and a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games with the Montenegro national team, Bojana Popović decided to retire from handball. However, in June 2016 Popović announced she would come out of retirement and make herself available for selection by the Montenegro national handball team to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
