Témiscamingue is a former provincial electoral district in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. It was created for the 1912 Quebec general election, 1912 election from part of Pontiac (provincial electoral district), Pontiac electoral district. its final election was in 1970 Quebec general election, 1970. It disappeared in the 1973 Quebec general election, 1973 election and its successor electoral district was Pontiac–Témiscamingue (provincial electoral district), Pontiac-Témiscamingue. Abitibi-Témiscamingue
Abitibi-Témiscamingue () is an administrative region located in western Québec, Canada, along the border with Ontario. It became part of the province in 1898. It has a land area of and its population was 147,082 people as of the 2021 census. The region is divided into five regional county municipalities (French: ''municipalité régionale de comté'', or MRC) and 79 municipalities. Its economy continues to be dominated by resource extraction industries. The Union nationale () was a conservatism, conservative and Nationalism, nationalist provincial political party in Quebec, Canada, that identified with Autonomism in Quebec, Québécois autonomism. It was created during the Great Depression and held power in Quebec from 1936 to 1939, from 1944 to 1960 and from 1966 to 1970. Nil-Élie Larivière (July 11, 1899 – May 3, 1969) was a politician Quebec, Canada and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec (MLA). Early life He was born on July 11, 1899, in Bonfield, Ontario, and became a farmer. Larivière moved to Rouyn-Noranda, Abitibi-Témiscamingue in 1925. City politics He served as a city councillor in Rouyn in 1926.
