Twister (game)
''Twister'' is a game of physical skill produced by Milton Bradley Company and Winning Moves Games USA. It is played on a large plastic mat that is spread on the floor or ground. The mat has six rows of large colored circles on it with a different color in each row: red, yellow, green, and blue. A spinner tells players where they have to place their hand or foot. The game promotes itself as "the game that ties you up in knots". Gameplay A spinner is attached to a square board and is used to determine where the player has to put their hand or foot. The spinner is divided into four labeled sections: left foot, right foot, left hand, and right hand. Each of those four sections are divided into the four colors (red, yellow, green, and blue). After spinning, the combination is called (for example: "right hand yellow") and players must move their matching hand or foot to a circle of the correct color. In a two-player game, no two people can have a hand or foot on the same circle; ...

Mersenne Twister
The Mersenne Twister is a general-purpose pseudorandom number generator (PRNG) developed in 1997 by and . Its name derives from the fact that its period length is chosen to be a Mersenne prime. The Mersenne Twister was designed specifically to rectify most of the flaws found in older PRNGs. The most commonly used version of the Mersenne Twister algorithm is based on the Mersenne prime 2^-1. The standard implementation of that, MT19937, uses a 32-bit word length. There is another implementation (with five variants) that uses a 64-bit word length, MT19937-64; it generates a different sequence. Application Software The Mersenne Twister is used as default PRNG by the following software: * Programming languages: Dyalog APL, IDL, R, Ruby, Free Pascal, PHP, Python (also available in NumPy, however the default was changed to PCG64 instead as of version 1.17),, CMU Common Lisp, Embeddable Common Lisp, Steel Bank Common Lisp, Julia (up to Julia 1.6 LTS, still available in ...

Twister (software)
Twister is an experimental peer-to-peer microblogging program. It is decentralized; consequently it cannot be shut down by an attack as there is no single point to attack. The system uses end-to-end encryption to safeguard communications. It is based on both BitTorrent- and Bitcoin-like protocols and has been likened to a distributed version of Twitter. In 2020 author Miguel Freitas posted that he would not be leading Twister development for the foreseeable future, although the Twister network continued running, and suggested that others might wish to fork the project. He said that the Web site might go offline as hosting was due to expire. The Twister core had been at version 0.9.40 since 2018. Twister remained on GitHub. Overview Twister is a Twitter-like microblogging platform that utilizes the same blockchain technology as Bitcoin, and the file exchange method from BitTorrent, both based on P2P technologies. The website seobloggingpro.com ranked Twister as the number 13 ...

Twister (Knoebels Amusement Resort)
Twister is a wooden roller coaster located at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania. It is a recreation of the famous Mister Twister, a 1964 John C. Allen design. History Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, started planning another roller coaster in 1998, following the popularity of its first coaster, Phoenix. Seeking to preserve another classic ride, the park looked into acquiring the defunct "Mister Twister", which had been abandoned when the entire Elitch Gardens amusement park was relocated in Denver, Colorado. However, Mister Twister had been closed for so long that it was no longer in operating condition, and space constraints made physically relocating the ride impossible. Knoebels purchased the blueprints and set out to rebuild the roller coaster from scratch, modifying the design to fit the space available. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Twister took place on November 3, 1998. At the time, the roller coaster was expected to cost $ ...

Twister (yacht)
The Twister is a masthead rigged sloop, length , beam , draft . It has a full length keel and a full-depth transom-hung rudder which is tiller steered. Total displacement (empty) is about , of which is encapsulated lead ballast. This sailing yacht was designed in 1963 by the English yacht architect C.R. (Kim) Holman. History Kim Holman was born in Cornwall and established himself as a yacht designer on the English East Coast after World War II. On request of one of his clients he designed a small sailing yacht, optimised for the rating rule at that time, with lines inspired by the Folkboat. The new design was baptised "Stella", and was so successful in races that several were built in wood. After a few years demand came for a yacht with the same looks, but with more length, space and seaworthiness, while still keeping the same rating as the Stella. Holman met this challenge and called his design "Twister", because he felt he had advantageously 'twisted' the rules for measurem ...
