Turun Palloseura, commonly known as TPS, is a professional association football, football club based in Turku, Finland. Since 2024, the men's team competes in Ykkösliiga, the second highest tier. Nicknamed "''Tepsi''", the club was founded in 1922. TPS have won 8 List of Finnish football champions#Performance by club, League titles and 3 Finnish Cups. They play their home league matches at Veritas Stadion, with a capacity of 9,372 seats for most matches. History In the early stages of the UEFA Cup of the season 1987–88, TPS beat F.C. Ivan Piñol
Ivan Piñol Zoroa (born 12 February 1982) is a Spanish Coach (association football), football coach who is serving as the head coach Finnish club Turun Palloseura, TPS in Ykkösliiga. Career Piñol started coaching in the youth academy of FC Barcelona (youth), Barcelona in 2010. During the 2014–15 season, he worked in the academy of South African Premiership club Mamelodi Sundowns. In August 2016, he started as an assistant coach of Rayo OKC, in a coaching staff of Gerard Nus. In December 2017, he followed Nus to Kazakh side FC Irtysh Pavlodar, Irtysh. Mika Laurikainen (born 28 April 1963) is a Finnish association football, football Manager (association football), manager who works as an academy director in Paide Linnameeskond. FC Honka is a Finland, Finnish Association football, football club based in Espoo. It was founded in 1957 as Tapion Honka, and changed its name to FC Honka in 1975. The club will play in Kakkonen in the 2024 season, after Esport Honka filed for bankruptcy in November 2023. 2018 Veikkausliiga
The 2018 Veikkausliiga was the 88th season of top-tier football in Finland. HJK were the defending champions. Fixtures for the 2018 season were announced on 17 January 2017. The season started on 7 April 2018 and ended on 27 October 2018. Teams JJK were relegated to Ykkönen after finishing at the bottom of the 2017 season. Their place was taken by Ykkönen champions TPS. Paavo Nurmi Stadium (, ) is a multi-use stadium in Turku, Finland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and athletics meets. It holds 13,000 people and is named after the Turku-born runner Paavo Nurmi. Twenty athletics world records have been set at the stadium. Marco Casagrande (born 4 April 1972) is a Finnish sports executive and a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is currently the secretary general of the Football Association of Finland, having started in the position in 2013. Pasi Rautiainen
Pasi Pentti Rautiainen (born 18 July 1961) is a Finnish football manager and former player. He made 29 appearances for Finland national football team, scoring one goal. Rautiainen was named in the Finnish Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Playing career Rautiainen was very talented as a young player, and he joined Bayern Munich at the age of just 18 in 1980. He only made one appearance for the club, but was still named German champion with Bayern in the 1980–81 season. Martti Kuusela
Martti Kuusela (born 9 October 1945) is a Finnish football manager and former midfielder. Kuusela enjoyed a moderately successful career as a player in Finland. As a coach, he won the Finnish championship in 1981 and 1990 with HJK Helsinki. He was the head coach of the Finland national team from 1982 to 1987, helping the team to the brink of qualifying for the 1986 World Cup. Kuusela has worked as coach in Belgium, Greece, Cyprus, Denmark and Hungary. He led Budapest Honvéd FC to the Hungarian championship in 1993. Kuusela coached Aris Thessaloniki F.C. in Greece in 2005. On 15 January 2008, TPS announced they had appointed Kuusela as their new manager.
