Triveni is a town in Katari Municipality, Udayapur District, in the Sagarmatha Zone of south-eastern Nepal. The formerly Triveni village development committee was merged to form a new municipality in May 2014. Zones Of Nepal
Until the establishment of seven new provinces in 2015, Nepal was divided into 14 administrative zones ( Nepali: अञ्चल; ''anchal'') and 77 districts ( Nepali: जिल्ला; ''jillā''). The 14 administrative zones were grouped into five development regions ( Nepali: विकास क्षेत्र; ''vikās kṣetra''). Sagarmatha Zone
Sagarmāthā Zone (, ''"Sagarmāthā Anchal"'') was one of the fourteen zones of Nepal until the restructuring of zones into provinces. The headquarters of Sagarmatha is Rajbiraj. ''Sagarmāthā'' is a Nepali word which as per some sources, is derived from सगर (''"sagar"'', sky) and माथा (''"māthā"'', head). It includes mountain districts of the Himalayas (including the world's highest peak Mount Everest) in the north, hill districts in the center, and valley districts of the Terai in the south. It is bordered by China to the north, India to the south, the Kosi Zone to the east and the Janakpur Zone to the west. Udayapur District
Udayapur District (, is one of the 14 districts of Koshi Province in eastern Nepal. Katari
Katari is a Municipality in Udayapur District in the Koshi province of south-eastern Nepal. It lies by the Tawa river (formed by unification of original Tawa river and Baidhyanath river) having the bridge of length 123.5m. This was established by merging two existing village development committees i.e. Triveni and Katari on 18 May 2014. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 7230 people living in 1410 individual households. Forty years later, Katari had undergone rapid growth, achieving a population of 59,507 people by the 2021 census. Village Development Committee (Nepal)
A village development committee (; ''gāum̐ vikās samiti'') in Nepal was the lower administrative part of its Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. Each district had several VDCs, similar to municipalities but with greater public-government interaction and administration. There were 3,157 village development committees in Nepal. Each village development committee was further divided into several wards () depending on the population of the district, the average being nine wards. 1991 Nepal Census
The 1991 Nepal census was a widespread national census conducted by the Nepal Central Bureau of Statistics. Working with Nepal's Village Development Committees at a district level, they recorded data from all the main towns and villages of each district of the country. The data included statistics on population size, households, sex and age distribution, place of birth, residence characteristics, literacy, marital status, religion, language spoken, caste/ethnic group, economically active population, education, number of children, employment status, and occupation. Digital Himalaya
The Digital Himalaya project was established in December 2000 by Mark Turin, Alan Macfarlane, Sara Shneiderman, and Sarah Harrison. The project's principal goal is to collect and preserve historical multimedia materials relating to the Himalaya, such as photographs, recordings, and journals, and make those resources available over the internet and offline, on external storage media. The project team has digitized older ethnographic collections and data sets that were deteriorating in their analogue formats, to protect them from deterioration and make them available and accessible to originating communities in the Himalayan region and a global community of scholars.
