The Tripper
''The Tripper'' is a 2006 American comedy slasher film directed by David Arquette and starring Jaime King, Thomas Jane, and Lukas Haas. The film, Arquette's directorial debut, is about a group of hippies at a music festival who get stalked by a madman dressed up like Ronald Reagan. Plot In 1967, a young boy is watching a news report on TV of then-governor of California Ronald Reagan railing against the environmentalist movement. The boy's father, a local logger named Dylan Riggs, faces resistance from a group of tree-hugging hippies who will not allow him to clear the forest, despite how he needs the money to buy medicine for his ailing wife. A standoff between Dylan and the hippies ensues, following which Dylan's disturbed son takes a chainsaw to the neck of one of the protesters. 39 years later, a group of friends - Joey, Ivan, Samantha, Linda, Jade and Jack - are driving through the woods to the American Free Love Festival (a modern-day Woodstock festival) for a weekend of ... ''Tripper'' is the fifth and most recent studio album by American math rock band Hella (drummer Zach Hill and guitarist Spencer Seim), and was released on August 30, 2011 by Sargent House on CD and vinyl. The album was released after Hill formed Death Grips with MC Ride and frequent collaborator Andy Morin (and released ''Exmilitary'')''.'' Reception ''Tripper'' received moderately positive reviews upon release. On review aggregator Metacritic, ''Tripper'' holds a 72/100, indicating "generally favorable" reviews. ''Pitchfork'''s Aaron Leitko gave ''Tripper'' a 6.0/10, saying that "On ''Tripper'', Hella's instrumental chops are better than ever, but riffs aside, there's not much to think about." ''Slant'' magazine was critical of ''Tripper'', commenting that "there's a certain threshold for this kind of demanding material before it gets tiring. It's one that ''Tripper'', staunchly dominated by an old-school style of wanky craftsmanship, crosses pretty quickly." Other reviewers ... Meatballs (film)
''Meatballs'' is a 1979 Canadian comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman. It is noted for Bill Murray's first film appearance in a starring role and for launching the directing career of Reitman, whose later comedies include '' Stripes'' (1981) and '' Ghostbusters'' (1984), both starring Murray. The film was the highest-grossing Canadian film of all time in the United States and Canada, winning the Golden Reel Award. It is the first of six film collaborations between Murray and Harold Ramis and several sequels, of which only '' Meatballs III: Summer Job'' (1986) had any connection to the original. Plot Tripper Harrison leads a group of new counsellors-in-training (CITs) at Camp North Star, a cut-rate summer camp located in Ontario, and leads practical jokes on camp director Morty Melnick, mainly by taking Melnick from his cabin late at night so that he awakens in unusual places. Rudy Gerner, a lonely boy whose mother died about a year earlier, is sent to summer camp by his ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Jack Tripper
Jack Tripper is a fictional character on the sitcom '' Three's Company'', based upon the character Robin Tripp from '' Man About the House'' created by Brian Cooke and Johnnie Mortimer. Jack was played by actor John Ritter. Introduction Janet reasoned with the landlord, Stanley Roper, who lived downstairs, and he agreed that Jack could stay because Janet told Mr. Roper that Jack was gay, without Jack's knowledge. Jack was, however, actually straight (the comedy stemming from having to "play gay" provided much of the story for the sitcom). Jack is something of a ladies' man, but is also kind-hearted, loyal and protective of the girls. Jobs Jack attended a local technical college on the G.I. Bill The Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, commonly known as the G.I. Bill, was a law that provided a range of benefits for some of the returning World War II veterans (commonly referred to as G.I.s). The original G.I. Tripper (Efterklang Album)
''Tripper'' is the debut album by the Danish group Efterklang. The name of the album according to member Thomas Humser refers to two things. One meaning is that "tripper" is the slang term for a traveler. It is also a Danish meaning for shuffling one's feet in anticipation of something good to happen. The album cover was done by Marie Hill and is literally a mashing of doodle she drew. The logo of the child dancing next to the band's name apparently is supposed to represent the childlike approach to this music. The self-released limited edition version of the album had a hand stitched card sleeve. Train Stop
Part of a railway signalling system, a train stop, trip stop or tripcock (sometimes called a tripper) is a train protection device that automatically stops a train if it attempts to pass a signal when the signal aspect and operating rules prohibit such movement, or (in some applications) if it attempts to pass at an excessive speed. Basic operation The train stop system comprises two basic components. One is the trip arm mechanism, mounted on the ground adjacent to the rail, which essentially consists of a spring-loaded arm connected to an electric motor (or pneumatic cylinder in electro-pneumatic systems). The other is the train-mounted trip cock, which is connected either directly or electrically to the train's braking system. The trip arm is raised automatically whenever a train should be brought to a halt. When the signalling system determines it is safe for the train to proceed, the motor drives the trip arm down to the lowered position. The spring ensures that the ...
