''Triplophysa stenura'' is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus ''Triplophysa''. It lives in swift-flowing streams and is known from the Upper Yangtze, Upper Mekong, Upper Salween and Upper Brahmaputra river drainages in China and Vietnam. Solomon Markovitch Herzenstein
Solomon Markovich Herzenstein (; 1854 – August 7, 1894) was a Russian zoologist. Biography Herzenstein received a degree in natural sciences and mathematics from Saint Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg University and was appointed as the custodian of the Zoological Museum (Saint Petersburg), Zoological Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Imperial Academy of Science in 1879 or 1880. He also supervised practical training at the Bestuzhev Courses, University for Women. In 1880, 1884, and 1887, he was commissioned to travel to the Murman Coast of the Kola Peninsula to study the mollusks and fishes there. His work, "Materialy k Faunye Murmanskavo Berega i Byelavo Morya," which was published in the ''Trudy'' of the in 1885, became a standard reference. Actinopterygii (; ), members of which are known as ray-finned fish or actinopterygians, is a class of bony fish that comprise over 50% of living vertebrate species. Triplophysa
''Triplophysa'' is a genus of fish in the family Nemacheilidae found mainly in and around the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China, as well as inland waters of the larger part of central Asia. They can be distinguished from other genera of Nemacheilidae by marked sexual dimorphism, including the development of nuptial tubercles on breeding males. Currently, the genus is a mixed assemblage of species. Some lineages have been identified and treated as subgenera ('' Hedinichthys'', '' Indotriplophysa'', '' Labiatophysa'', '' Qinghaichthys'' and '' Tarimichthys''), but as Wikipedia follows Fishbase for fish species all but ''Hedinichthys'' have been treated as subgenera in Wikipedia, although Kottelat in his revision of the loaches did recognise them as valid. The Salween is a Southeast Asian river, about long, flowing from the Tibetan Plateau south into the Andaman Sea. The Salween flows primarily within southwest China and eastern Myanmar, with a short section forming the border of Myanmar and Thailand. The Brahmaputra is a trans-boundary river which flows through Southwestern China, Northeastern India, and Bangladesh. ''Oxygymnocypris'' is a monospecific genus of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Cyprinidae, the family which includes the carps, barbs and related fishes.
