Trinidad, Paraguay
Trinidad (Spanish for ''Trinity'') is a district in the Itapúa Department of Paraguay. It is well known for its Jesuit Mission, La Misión de la Santísima Trinidad de Paraná. In 1993, the mission was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is open to visitation by tourists. Location Trinidad is located on Ruta 6ta, 30 kilometers north of the department's capital, Encarnación. Itapúa () is a department in the southern region of Paraguay. The capital is the city of Encarnación. It is divided into 30 districts, more than any other district in the country. History This department was created after the breakup of the Misiones Department, with the city of Encarnación as the capital. It had high economic growth in the first 30 years of the arrival of immigrants and the Carlos Antonio Lopez Railway; the growth was accompanied by several ups and downs. An era of decline followed until the 1950s when the Carnaval Encarnaceno became better known and attracted tourists from various regions. La Santísima Trinidad De Paraná
', or the Most Holy Trinity of Paraná, is the name of a former Jesuit reduction in Paraguay. It is an example of one of the many Jesuit reductions, small colonies established by the missionaries in various locations in South America, such as Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay throughout the 17th and 18th century. Ruins Of Jesús De Tavarangue
Jesús de Tavarangue was a Jesuit Reduction located in what is now Itapua, Paraguay. The ruins of the mission, together with those of Trinidad were designated a UN World Heritage Site designated in 1993. History The ''Reducción de Jesús'' was initially founded in what is now Alto Parana in 1685 near the Monday river. The mission was relocated several times before arriving in its current location in 1760. Construction of the mission was not completed by the time the Jesuit order was expelled from Paraguay in 1767.
