Tour De France à La Voile
Tour de France à la voile is an annual yachting race around the coast of France. Inaugurated in 1978, it links the English Channel to the French Riviera and is held in July. Famous skippers have taken part in the race, including Loïck Peyron and the four time America's Cup winner Russell Coutts. The race is, however, not reserved for professionals, and it also attracts amateurs and students thanks to three distinct rankings. The race visits around ten harbours along the French coast. It includes one or two day coastal stages - that vary from year to year - as well as intensive regattas at the various ports. The boats are transported by road (trucks) midway through the race from stages held in the Atlantic Ocean to those in the Mediterranean Sea. Yachting
Yachting is recreational boating activities using medium/large-sized boats or small ships collectively called yachts. Yachting is distinguished from other forms of boating mainly by the priority focus on comfort and luxury, the dependence on marinas for docking, and being typically only for exclusive social leisures such as cruising, fishing trip or racing. The term "''yacht''" derives from the Dutch word '' jacht'', meaning "hunt". When yachting with sailboats, the activity is simply called sailing; and with motorboats, it is called powerboating. A boat club that only services yachting participants is known as a yacht club. Bertrand Pacé (born 15 August 1961 in Petite-Synthe) is a French sailor competing in offshore racing. He won the 1994 World Match Racing Championships in La Rochelle, France. Pacé was a navigator for the Challenge Kis France at the 1987 Louis Vuitton Cup and a backup helmsman and navigator at the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. At the 1995 Louis Vuitton Cup, Pacé was again part of the French challenge. He was promoted to skipper for the team's challenge at the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup.
