Hush (band)
Hush was an Australian glam rock pop band, which formed in 1971 and disbanded in 1977. For most of that time their line-up was lead singer Keith Lamb with Les Gock on lead guitar, Rick Lum on bass guitar and Chris 'Smiley' Pailthorpe on drums. They had top 10 hits on the Kent Music Report with their cover versions of " Bony Moronie" and "Glad All Over" (both 1975). The group frequently appeared on the TV pop music show, '' Countdown'', and toured nationally. History Australian success: 1971–1977 Hush were formed in Seven Hills, New South Wales in 1971 as a five piece light pop group by Keith Lamb on lead vocals, Robin Jackson on guitar, John Koutts on drums, Rick Lum on bass guitar and Chris Nolan on keyboards. Robie Porter
Robert George Porter (4 June 1941 – 16 December 2021) was an Australian country and pop-rock musician, producer and record label owner. Beginning in 1959, he performed under the stage name Rob E.G. and recorded lap steel guitar instrumentals or cover versions, covers of country-style vocals. On the local Sydney music charts, he provided four top ten hits including two No. 1 hits with "Si Senor" and "55 Days at Peking (song), 55 Days at Peking". From 1970, Porter ran an independent record label, Sparmac, and produced three Long play, LPs for Daddy Cool (band), Daddy Cool. Porter received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) at the 2017 Queen's Birthday Honours (Australia), 2017 Queen's Birthday Honours for "service to the music industry as a producer, writer and performer". Les Gock
Leslie Gock (born 1954) is an Australian musician, producer and sound designer. He joined the glam rock band Hush (band), Hush in 1972. Gock played lead guitar, and was also a songwriter and co-producer. The group received 12 gold records during his time in the band. After leaving Hush in 1976, Gock became a music and sound design director for film and television soundtracks, receiving industry recognition by Gold Clios, Facts Awards, and New York International Advertising Festival Awards. Gock also wrote the club song for the Canberra Raiders Rugby League team. Biography Leslie Gock was born in 1954. Keith Lamb (musician)
Keith Lamb (born 9 January 1952) is an English-born Australian musician who was the lead singer and founding member of the 1970s glam rock band, Hush. He had been singing since the age of 10 years old, fronting English bands including Mr. Toad, The Case and Sleepy Talk. Mr. Toad supported UK acts including the Who and the Equals. Lamb emigrated to Australia in 1970 with his school friend, Hush guitarist Robin Jackson. Career Lamb co-wrote Hush's music with guitarist Les Gock. He was one of Australia's better known front men of the 1970s, along with Bon Scott. On the passing of Scott, Lamb was considered as a replacement for the AC/DC band. Lamb lived for performing and was heartbroken when Hush split up. He went on to produce the work of bands Airport, Larry, and the Keith Lamb Band, but none had the commercial success of Hush. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations.
