Torcida Split
Torcida Split is a HNK Hajduk Split supporters' group in Croatia with the branches in other countries, mostly, (but not exclusively) among Croat communities. Founded on 28 October 1950, Torcida is the oldest supporters group in Europe. The group as a whole traditionally maintains good relations with the French Magic Fans of AS Saint-Étienne, the Czech Slavia Prague football club supporters, especially fan group Tribuna Sever, Polish Torcida Górnik fan group from Górnik Zabrze and has a long friendship with the Portuguese fan group No Name Boys from Benfica. History The Torcida was founded in 1950 by a group of sailors from Korčula who had witnessed the passion of the crowd at the World Cup Final in Brazil. Korčula
Korčula () is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. It has an area of , is long and on average wide, and lies just off the Dalmatian coast. Its 15,522 inhabitants (2011) make it the second most populous Adriatic island after Krk. The population are almost entirely ethnic Croats (95.74%). The term originated in Italy, but is used worldwide to describe predominantly organised fans of association football teams. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. Bernard Vukas
Bernard Vukas (1 May 1927 – 4 April 1983) was a Croatian Association football, footballer who played for Yugoslavia. Vukas played as a Midfielder#Winger, left winger/Forward (association football), forward and is mostly remembered for his extraordinary Dribbling#Association football, dribbling ability. In 2000, he was voted by the Croatian Football Federation as the best Croatian player of all time, and in another poll by ''Večernji List'' he was voted Best Croatian Athlete of the 20th Century. Club career Vukas started his career in the youth ranks of Concordia Zagreb. After WW2, he spent some time in NK Amater Zagreb before moving to Hajduk Split in 1947. He stayed in Hajduk until 1957, playing 202 games and scoring 89 goals. 1950 FIFA World Cup Final
The match between Uruguay and Brazil was the decisive match of the final stage at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. It was played at the Maracanã Stadium in the then-capital of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, on 16 July 1950. Unlike in other editions of the tournament, which conclude with a one-off final, the 1950 winner was determined by a final group stage, where four teams played in a round-robin format.
