Torbjörn Eriksson
Jan Torbjörn Eriksson (born 17 April 1971 in Grycksbo) is a retired Swedish athlete who competed in the sprinting events. He is best known for winning the bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 1996 European Indoor Championships in his native Sweden. In addition, he competed at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as four consecutive World Championships, starting in 1993. In 2008, he started coaching Swedish hurdlers, sisters Jenny and Susanna Kallur. The 4th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held in the Neckarstadium, Stuttgart, Germany between 13 and 22 August with the participation of 187 nations. The men's 200 metres was an event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There were 79 participating athletes from 65 nations, with eleven qualifying heats. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by 0.12 seconds by Michael Marsh of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and 15th overall victory in the event. The Americans would take a second medal for the third consecutive Games as well, this time with Michael Bates earning bronze. The silver medal went to Frankie Fredericks, taking Namibia's first medal in the men's 200 metres.
