Topoľčany District
Topoľčany District (''okres Topoľčany'') is a district in the Nitra Region of western Slovakia. It borders Nové Mesto nad Váhom District and Bánovce nad Bebravou District in the north, Piešťany District and Hlohovec District in the west, Partizánske District in the east and Nitra District and Zlaté Moravce District in the south. The district in its present form was established in 1996, before that date Topoľčany district had been composed of two present districts, Topoľčany District and Partizánske District. Districts Of Slovakia
The districts of Slovakia are administrative units known as in the Slovak language. It is a second-tier territorial administrative unit, below a Region () in standing, and superior to a municipality (). Each district contains at least several municipalities. The cities of Bratislava and Košice are the only cities in Slovakia divided into internal urban districts, with five in Bratislava, and four in Košice. These urban districts are then further divided into smaller boroughs (which serve a function analogous to municipalities in typical districts). All other districts are larger in size and also include rural areas, and rural as well as urban municipalities. Each of these more typical districts has an urban centre serving as the seat of the district, usually the largest town (or the only town) of a given district. Hrušovany, Topoľčany District
Hrušovany () is a municipality in the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 1116 inhabitants. The village has well-developed infrastructure, including a kindergarten, primary school, gas distribution network, and indoor and outdoor sport facilities. The municipalities most important landmarks are its 17th century church and belfry. History Evidence of human habitation in the village dates back to the Neolithic period, with archeological excavations indicating that its inhabitants belonged to the Linear Pottery culture. During the Great Moravia, Great Moravian period, Hrušovany was populated by Slavs. The town was first mentioned under the Hungarian language, Hungarian name "''Kurtveles" in 1318, and in 1392 the town was documented in diplomas as "Kerthuely". Chrabrany
Chrabrany (; ) is a municipality in the Topoľčany District of the Nitra Region, Slovakia. In 2011 it had 763 inhabitants. The village Chrabrany forms a core of municipality. It is situated on the right bank of the Nitra river, three kilometres south of Topolcany. A settlement has existed on the area of the village since the Prehistoric era and later in the times of Great Moravia; however the first mention of the municipality in written texts dates from 1291. In this period the village was a part of county of Chrabor family, in 1687 of the Hungarian noble family Erdődy (also Erdödy, Erdődi).
