Toot, Toot, Tootsie Goodbye
Toot, Toot, Tootsie (Goo' Bye!) is a 1922 song with music and lyrics by Gus Kahn, Ernie Erdman and Danny Russo, per the credits on the original sheet music cover. Some other sources also credit Ted Fio Rito and Robert King for the song, but make no mention of Dan Russo. It debuted in the Broadway musical '' Bombo'', where it was a major hit. It was first recorded by Al Jolson with Frank Crumit's orchestra for Columbia Records on September 9, 1922. It was further popularised by the racy singer-comedian Eddie Cantor. This song has become associated with the age and image of the flapper during the Roaring Twenties. While the Jolson version was the most popular, other high-selling versions in 1923 were those by Ernest Hare & Billy Jones, Vincent Lopez, and Benson Orchestra of Chicago. The Jolson Story
''The Jolson Story'' is a 1946 American biographical musical film, a highly fictionalized account of the life of singer Al Jolson, produced by Columbia Pictures and directed by Alfred E. Green. It stars Larry Parks as Jolson, Evelyn Keyes as Julie Benson (approximating Jolson's wife, Ruby Keeler), William Demarest as his performing partner and manager, Ludwig Donath and Tamara Shayne as his parents, and Scotty Beckett as the young Jolson. Jerry Vale (born Gennaro Louis Vitaliano; July 8, 1930 – May 18, 2014) was an American traditional pop singer. During the 1950s and 1960s, he reached the top of the pop charts with his interpretations of romantic ballads, including a cover of Eddy Arnold hit " You Don't Know Me" (1956) and " Have You Looked into Your Heart" (1964). Edward Evan Duncan Howard (September 12, 1914 – May 23, 1963) was an American vocalist and bandleader who was popular during the 1940s and 1950s. Early years Eddy Howard was born in Woodland, California, and after attending San Jose State College from 1931 to 1933, studied medicine at Stanford University before dropping out to become a singer of romantic ballads on Los Angeles radio. The Hoosier Hot Shots were an American quartet of musicians who entertained on stage, screen, radio, and records from the mid-1930s into the 1970s. ''Train Ride to Hollywood'' is a 1975 American comedy/fantasy pop musical directed by Charles R. Rondeau and starring the Kansas City R&B group Bloodstone. Plot The movie begins with a Bloodstone cover of " As Time Goes By" over the opening titles. Bloodstone - Harry Williams, Charles Love, Charles McCormick, and Willis Draffen, Jr. - are about to go onstage for a concert at a theater while their opening act, a vocal group called the Sinceres, perform the Coasters' 1958 hit song "Yakety Yak." In fact, the Sinceres are played by Bloodstone themselves, as "the Sinceres" was the name they performed under before getting a record deal. Bloodstone miss their cue to go onstage, much to the chagrin of a venal producer in charge of the show.
