Tongod District, Malaysia
The Tongod District () is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Tongod Town. History The district was first established in 1977 as a sub-district of the larger Kinabatangan district. The "daerah kecil" ("sub-district") was then entrusted to Keningau native, Charles Andau, who was one of the assistant district officers of the then-undivided Kinabatangan district and was formally subordinate to the district officer of Kinabatangan. On 1 March 1999, Tongod was elevated to a full district within the Sandakan division, then two months and three weeks later on 24 May 1999, the late Datuk Matius @ Matthew Sator of Ranau was appointed to be its first inaugural district officer. Beluran District
The Beluran District () is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Beluran Town. Etymology The name Beluran was taken after the name of a hill in the district. In the languages of Labuk Dusun, Sungai and Tidong, it is called as "Buludan". Kadazandusun (also written as Kadazan-Dusun or Mamasok) are the largest ethnic group in Sabah, Malaysia, an amalgamation of the closely related indigenous peoples, indigenous Kadazan people, Kadazan and Dusun people, Dusun peoples. "Kadazandusun" is an umbrella term that encompasses both the Kadazan and Dusun peoples. They are also known as Mamasok Sabah, meaning "indigenous people of Sabah". The Orang Sungei (Malay language, Malay word for "River People") are a group of Indigenous peoples, indigenous people native to the state of Sabah, Malaysia. Groups of communities live along the rivers of Kinabatangan, Labuk, Kudat, Pitas, Sabah, Pitas and Lahad Datu. The name "Orang Sungei" is a collective term that was first coined during the colonial British rule for communities living along the Kinabatangan River. Telupid District
The Telupid District () is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Telupid Town. The district is formerly a part of Beluran District. History Telupid was firstly settled around 1940s and became the major route for the Sandakan Death Marches during World War II. At the time, it was mainly inhabited by the Dusun people. The present district was formed around 1965, shortly after Sabah became part of Malaysia. The Kinabatangan District () is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod.
