Tomáš Staněk (born 13 June 1991) is a Czech athlete specialising in the shot put The shot put is a track-and-field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical Ball (sports), ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. For men, the sport has been a part of the Olympic Games, modern Olympics since their 1896 Summer Olym .... He represented his country at the 2017 World Championships, finishing fourth. He won the silver medal at the 2017 European Indoor Championships. His personal bests in the event are 22.01 metres outdoors (Schönebeck 2017) and 22.17 indoors (Düsseldorf 2018). 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena, Ataköy Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event took place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2012 World Indoor Championships for which this 7000-seater was specifically built. The four-day competition was held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. Sopot

2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the fifteenth edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the IAAF. The event was held between 7–9 March 2014 at the Ergo Arena in Sopot, Poland. Preparation Host bidding The International Association of Athletics Federations, IAAF announced on 1 September 2011 that it had received bids from Poland and Croatia to host the championships. Later Zagreb, Croatia withdrew due to lack of funding. On 11 November 2011 at a Council meeting in Monaco, the IAAF announced that Sopot, as the only remaining bidder, would host the championships.
