Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. The foot racing events, which include sprint (running), sprints, middle-distance running, middle- and long-distance running, long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. Sometimes, the word "athlete" is used to refer specifically to sport of athletics competitors, i.e. including track and field and marathon runners but excluding e.g. swimmers, footballers or basketball players.
