Tomás Barroso
Tomás Cabrita dos Santos Nunes Barroso (born 2 November 1990) is a former Portuguese basketball player for S.L. Benfica (basketball), S.L. Benfica and the Portugal national basketball team, Portugal national team. Career Born in Albufeira, Barroso developed his basketball skills from a young age, playing for his hometown club, Clube de Basquete de Albufeira. After five seasons, he moved to the same city rival, Imortal DC, but spent only two seasons, before scouts noted him and took him to Spain. At 16 years of age, Barroso moved alone to Torrelodones, a small town, from Madrid, competing for Espacio Torrelodones in the Liga EBA, plus on the Regional Under-18 Championship where they eliminated on the knockout stages by Real Madrid Baloncesto, Real Madrid. However, he sustained a knee injury that required surgery, so he opted to return to Portugal, and joined S.L. Benfica (basketball), Benfica, which had approached him, as he finished his recovery. Liga Portuguesa De Basquetebol
The Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (), also known as Liga Betclic for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's professional club basketball league in Portugal. History From the 2008–09 season onward, the competition has been again organised by the Federação Portuguesa de Basquetebol (Portuguese Basketball Federation) after not having been for 13 seasons. This was caused by the fold of the LPB after many years of financial problems, with the league now being a semi-professional league. Between the 1965–66 and 1973–74 seasons, the league champions were determined by a tournament between the winners of the Campeonato Metropolitano (representing Portugal) and the champions of the then Portuguese colonies Mozambique and Angola, as a similar fashion to the Portuguese Roller Hockey First Division, which was also played during those seasons.
