Tommi Evilä
Jaakko Tommi Kristian Evilä (born 6 April 1980 in Tampere) is a Finland, Finnish former long jumper. He gained fame following his surprise bronze in the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, 2005 Helsinki World Championships, which was Finland's only medal in the championships. He won the bronze medal in a wind assistance, wind-aided 8.25 metre jump. Before the 2005 World Championships he had finished tenth at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Athletics, 1998 World Junior Championships and fourth at the 2005 European Indoor Championships in Athletics, 2005 European Indoor Championships. He then improved his personal best jump to 8.19 metres in August, and finished sixth at the 2005 IAAF World Athletics Final, 2005 World Athletics Final. Years troubled by injuries then followed. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping and throwing. Athletics At The 2008 Summer Olympics
Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the games, from August 15 to August 24, 2008, at the Beijing National Stadium. The Olympic sport of athletics is split into four distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Both men and women had very similar schedules of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, as their schedule lacked the 50 km race walk. In addition, both the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon are reflected in the women's schedule by the 100 m hurdles and heptathlon, respectively. The Olympic record was broken in 17 returning events. In five events, including the inaugural women's 3000 m steeplechase, the world record was broken. 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2005 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, the capital city of Spain, from Friday, 4 March to Sunday, 6 March 2005. This was the first edition to be held in an odd year since switching to the biennial format, so as not to occur in the same as the outdoor European Athletics Championships and also recently moved IAAF World Indoor Championships. To accommodate this change, there was a two-year gap since the previous edition. It also marked the last time that the 200 metres were contested at the event. Russia finished on top of the medal table with 17 medals including 9 gold and a clear lead over Sweden and France.
