Tomasz Ludwik Stańko (; 11 July 1942 – 29 July 2018) was a Polish trumpeter and composer associated with free jazz and the avant-garde. In 1962, Tomasz Stańko formed his first band, the Jazz Darings, with saxophonist Janusz Muniak, pianist Adam Makowicz, bassist Jacek Ostaszewski, drummer Wiktor Perelmuter. Inspired by Ornette Coleman and the innovations of John Coltrane, Miles Davis and George Russell (composer), George Russell, the group is often cited by music historians as the first European group to play free jazz. In his later years, he collaborated with pianist Krzysztof Komeda on Komeda's album ''Astigmatic (album), Astigmatic'', recorded in late 1965. Tomasz Sikora (born 21 December 1973) is a former Poland, Polish biathlon, biathlete. Life and career Sikora was born in Wodzisław Śląski. In 1993, he finished second in 10 km sprint at the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding. He was world champion in 1995 (20 km), runner-up in the world championships in 2004 (also 20 km) and bronze medalist in 1997 (team competition). Tomasz Schafernaker (born 8 January 1979) is a Polish-British meteorologist who currently works for BBC Weather. Early life Tomasz Schafernaker was born on 8 January 1979 in Gdańsk, Poland, and attended school both in his native Poland and in Britain. He was educated at the independent school St. John's College, Southsea, in Portsmouth, where he took A-levels in mathematics, physics and art, followed by the University of Reading where he gained a BSc (Hons) in Meteorology. Tomasz Majewski (born 30 August 1981) is a Polish shot putter and a double Olympic Games, Olympic List of Olympic medalists in athletics (men)#Shot put, gold medalist (2008 Olympic Games, 2008 Beijing, 2012 Olympic Games, 2012 London).
