Tom Warhurst, Jr.
Tom Warhurst Jr. (born 17 February 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Warhurst had already played over 200 SANFL games when he was signed by Adelaide for their debut season in 1991. He had previously been twice recruited by VFL clubs, but on each occasion decided to stay at Norwood. A three time South Australian representative, Warhurst was a member of Norwood's 1982 and 1984 premiership teams. He took part in Adelaide's first AFL game, against Hawthorn at Football Park, where he kept key forward Dermott Brereton goal-less in a convincing win for the club. The 28-year-old played again the following round, in a loss to Carlton, but did not make any further appearance for Adelaide. The South Australian National Football League, or SANFL ( or ''S-A-N-F-L''), is an Australian rules football league based in the Australian state of South Australia. It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval), which is often referred to as "The Parade". The Adelaide Crows (officially the Adelaide Football Club) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1990. John Warhurst (academic)
John Lewis Warhurst, AO, (born 29 February 1948) is a noted Australian academic and a prominent leader within the Australian Republican Movement. He currently holds the positions of Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University and Deputy Chair of the Republican Movement. Biography Warhurst graduated from Saint Ignatius' College, Adelaide in 1965 and studied politics and economics at Flinders University, graduating in 1972. He left South Australia soon after, working in a number of different states, before teaching overseas at the University of London. He moved back to Australia in 1985 to teach at the University of New England, where he was professor of politics for 8 years. In 1993, Warhurst took up the prestigious post of Professor of Political Science at ANU, a position he held until 2008. He currently teaches there, as Emeritus Professor.
