Nógrád (, ; ) is a counties of Hungary, county () of Hungary. It sits on the northern edge of Hungary and borders Slovakia. Description Nógrád county lies in northern Hungary. It shares borders with Slovakia and the Hungarian counties Pest (county), Pest, Heves (county), Heves and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. The capital of Nógrád county is Salgótarján. Its area is 2,544 km². Northern Hungary
Northern Hungary (, ) is a region in Hungary. As a statistical region it includes the counties Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves and Nógrád, but in colloquial speech it usually also refers to Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. Rétság is a small town in Nógrád (county), Nógrád county, in Hungary. Location Rétság is located north of the capital Budapest on the E77 European main road, halfway between Vác and Balassagyarmat. The town is located at the border of Cserhát and Börzsöny hills. Its location determines the function of the town. History The settlement was the property of the Losonczy family in 1393, when its name was Réthy Saag.
