Toledo, Uruguay
Toledo is a small city in the Canelones Department of Uruguay. Together with Villa Crespo y San Andrés, it forms a population centre of more than 14,000, which is also generally known as "Toledo", although the censual area of Toledo itself has only about 4,400 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. They are both part of the wider metropitan area of Montevideo. Toledo is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs and includes Villa Crespo y San Andrés as well as several other urban centres of the area. Geography Location The city is located on Km. 22 of Route 6 and on its intersection with Route 85. The stream Arroyo de Toledo flows along the west and the south limits of the town. History The town was founded on November 17, 1889. On 28 May 1928 it was declared a "Pueblo" (village) by the Act of Ley Nº 8.224, while on 24 October 1995, its status was elevated to "Ciudad" (city) by the Act of Ley Nº 16.721. Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The '' Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. History The first division of the Republic into six departments occurred on 27 January 1816. In February of the same year, two more departments were formed, and in 1828 one more was added. When the First Constitution was signed in 1830, there were nine departments. These were the departments of Montevideo, Maldonado, Canelones, San José, Colonia, Soriano, Paysandú, Durazno and Cerro Largo. Telephone Numbers In Uruguay
Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications. Previously in Uruguay, phone numbers used to have between 4 and 7 digits. To make a local phone call, you only had to dial those digits. To make a call between two cities from different departments, you had to dial zero, plus area code, plus phone number. As from August 29, 2010, all phone numbers have 8 digits, according to the new National Numbering Plan. Zero prior to area code was eliminated. Canelones Department
The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Its capital is Canelones. Geography and climate Neighbouring departments are Maldonado and Lavalleja to the East, Florida to the North, San José to the West, and Montevideo to the South. Montevideo
Montevideo () is the capital and largest city of Uruguay. According to the 2011 census, the city proper has a population of 1,319,108 (about one-third of the country's total population) in an area of . Montevideo is situated on the southern coast of the country, on the northeastern bank of the Río de la Plata. Route 6 (Uruguay)
Route 6 is a national route of Uruguay. In 1981, it was assigned the name Joaquín Suárez. It connects Montevideo with the northeast of Rivera Department, at Vichadero, with an extension reaching the border with Brazil. The road is approximately 428 kilometres long till Vichadero. The distance notation along Route 6 uses the same Kilometre Zero reference as Routes 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 and IB, which is the Pillar of Peace of Plaza de Cagancha in the Centro of Montevideo. The only cities apart from Montevideo it connects with are San Ramón in Canelones Department and Sarandí del Yí in Durazno Department. Arroyo De Toledo
Arroyo de Toledo is a river in Uruguay. Arroyo de Toledo runs in the area of the Departments of Canelones and Montevideo, as the border line of which it serves. According to Orestes Araújo, it rises about four kilometers east of Punta del Burro in the Maldonado Department. It carries little water and sinks before it can pour into the sea. South of the town of Joaquín Suárez meets the Arroyo Meireles on its left hand. ''Nuestra'' is the debut studio album of the Venezuelan rock band La Vida Bohème, released in August 2010. Recorded and produced by Rudy Pagliuca, it is a free download on the website of the record label All of the Above. The album was nominated for "Best Latin Pop, Rock or Urban Album" in the 54th Grammy Awards. The two singles from this album are "Radio Capital" and "Danz!". Background and Recording The album was recorded in Caracas in 2009, on fairly independent terms.
