Tokai Transport Service
, formerly Tokai Transport Service Company, and abbreviated "TKJ", is a railway operating company in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). Lines TKJ operates only one line, the 11.2 km Tōkai Transport Service Jōhoku Line, Jōhoku Line. The rail facilities are operated by JR Central, and the trains are run by TKJ. History The company was founded on 18 February 1988. On July 12, 2024, it was announced that the company name would be changing from Tokai Transport Service Co., Ltd. to JR-Central Transport Service Co., Ltd. (adding a "JR" to the beginning and translating the word "Tokai" in its English name), effective October 1, 2024, to clearly identify it as a subsidiary of JR Central. Tōkai Transport Service Jōhoku Line
The is a Japanese commuter rail line between Kachigawa Station in Kasugai, Aichi, Kasugai and Biwajima Station in Kiyosu, Aichi, Kiyosu, in Aichi Prefecture. Trains are operated by JR-Central Transport Service Company, or TKJ in short, a wholly owned subsidiary of Central Japan Railway Company, JR Central. While TKJ operates the line, the rail facilities belong to its parent company JR Central. Since the Railway electrification, electrification of Taketoyo Line in 2015, it is the only railway line in Aichi Prefecture to not be electrified. History The line was originally planned by Japanese National Railways (JNR) in the 1960s as a freight-only line linking the Chuo Main Line at with the Tokaido Main Line at . Construction began in March 1976, but was subsequently halted due to the huge deficit of JNR.
