Dinosaur are a United Kingdom, British jazz quartet founded in 2010. The band comprises Laura Jurd on trumpet and synthesizers, Elliot Galvin on keyboards and synthesizers, Corrie Dick on drums, and Conor Chaplin on bass guitar, bass. Mercury Prize
The Mercury Prize, formerly called the Mercury Music Prize, is an annual music prize awarded for the best album released in the United Kingdom by a British or Irish act. It was created by Jon Webster and Robert Chandler in association with the British Phonographic Industry and British Association of Record Dealers in 1992 as an alternative to the Brit Awards. The prize was originally sponsored by Mercury Communications, a brand owned by Cable & Wireless, from which the prize gets its name. It was later sponsored by Technics (1998 to 2001), Panasonic (2002 and 2003), Nationwide Building Society (2004 to 2008) and Barclaycard (2009–14). Laura Jurd
Laura Jurd (born 1990) is a musician and composer from Hampshire, United Kingdom. She plays trumpet and synthesizer. She has released albums as a solo artist, and she plays in a jazz quartet named Dinosaur, whose album ''Together, As One'' was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2017. Jurd teaches composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Jurd composes for and plays in British jazz quartet Dinosaur. Elliot Galvin
Elliot Galvin (born 1991) is a British musician and composer based in London. He plays piano, synthesizer, kalimba, microtone, microtonal melodica, accordion and stylophone. His primary artistic vehicle is the eponymous Elliot Galvin Trio. He is also a member of the jazz ensembles Dinosaur (jazz quartet), Dinosaur and Emma-Jean Thackray's WALRUS. Conor Chaplin (musician)
Conor Mark Chaplin (born 16 February 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays for club Ipswich Town. Known for his versatility in attack, goal-scoring and playmaking, Chaplin can be deployed as an attacking midfielder, winger, second striker or forward. Chaplin joined the youth set up at Portsmouth in 2003, progressing through the club's academy to make his senior debut in December 2014. He won the 2015 League Two Apprentice Award during his first season as a senior professional. He helped Portsmouth win the EFL League Two title in 2016–17, going on to make 122 appearances and score 25 goals during his time at the club. Corrie Dick is a Scottish jazz musician (drums, percussion, vocals) and composer based in London. He is recognised for his fluency, gritty sound and euphoric abandon on the drum kit and for his poignant and earthy compositional style. He comes from a small family with musical and artistic parents. His sole brother Garry Dick, two and a half years his minor, is an accomplished chef in the West of Scotland.
