Toga, Missouri
Toga is an unincorporated community located on Crowleys Ridge in northern Stoddard County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies two miles northeast of Advance on Missouri Route 25. The Stoddard- Bollinger- Cape Girardeau county line junction is approximately one mile northeast of the location. History A post office called Toga was established in 1900, and remained in operation until 1903. The community has the first name of Toga Bill Rhodes, an early settler. Crowleys Ridge
Crowley's Ridge (also Crowleys Ridge) is a geological formation that rises 250 to above the alluvial plain of the Mississippi embayment in a line from southeastern Missouri to the Mississippi River near Helena, Arkansas. It is the most prominent feature in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain between Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the Gulf of Mexico. This narrow rolling hill region rising above the flat plain is the sixth, and smallest, natural division of the state of Arkansas. The southern part is protected within Ozark–St. Francis National Forest. Most of the major cities of the Arkansas Delta region lie along Crowley's Ridge. Advance is a city located at the intersection of State Highway 25 and State Highway 91/Route C in northern Stoddard County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,347 at the 2010 census. Advance was founded ''circa'' 1882. The town is pronounced ''ADD-vance''. History Advance had its start in 1910 when the railroad was extended to that point. Economy There is no sustained industry in the town or near surrounding area. Agriculture, although small, is the most viable local source of income. Public services available in the city include three health/medical clinics: Advance Medical Clinic, Cross Trails Medical Center and Haven Health Care Medical.
