Tivoli Theatre (Downers Grove, Illinois)
The Tivoli Theatre is a movie theater built in 1928 and is located at 5021 Highland Ave, Downers Grove, Illinois. The theatre was designed by Van Gurten and Van Gurten architects, and has 1,012 seats. First opened on Christmas Day, 1928, this theatre was the second in the US to open with sound movies (the first being the Brooklyn Paramount inaugurated in November). Since its opening the theatre has been meticulously remodeled to resemble a "French Renaissance-style" theatre. The Tivoli is a rare large one-screen theatre. Most of these older theatres have been "cut up" in order to offer more screens, but the Tivoli is still intact. Downers Grove
Downers Grove is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1832 by Pierce Downer, whose surname serves as the eponym for the village. It is a south-west suburb of Chicago. The village is located between I-88 and I-55. Classic Cinemas is the largest Illinois based movie theatre chain. Headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois, it operates 16 locations with 137 screens in Illinois and Wisconsin (as of May 2022) under Tivoli Enterprises ownership. Los Lobos (, Spanish for "the Wolves") are an American rock band from East Los Angeles, California. Poi Dog Pondering
Poi Dog Pondering is an American musical group which is noted for its cross-pollination of diverse musical genres, including various forms of acoustic and electronic music. Frank Orrall founded the band in Hawaii in 1984, initially as a solo project. In 1985 Orrall formed the first line-up of PDP to perform its first concert; at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. The band embarked on a yearlong street performance busking tour across North America. They eventually settled down in Austin, Texas in 1987, where they recorded their first three albums. In 1992, the band relocated to Chicago and they began to incorporate orchestral arrangements and elements of electronic, house music, and soul music into their acoustic rock style. Big Head Todd and The Monsters are a rock band formed by Todd Mohr, Brian Nevin, and Rob Squires in 1986 in Colorado. The band has released a number of albums since 1989 with their 1993 album '' Sister Sweetly'' going platinum in the United States. The band has developed a sizable live following especially in the Mountain States of the United States.
