Tivoli is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the , Tivoli had a population of 1,487 people. Tivoli is home to one of six remaining drive-in cinemas in Queensland. Geography The Warrego Highway passes from east ( North Tivoli) to west (North Ipswich) through the north of the locality. Tivoli Hill is a neighbourhood with the suburb (). Prior to 1991 it was a separate suburb. The neighbourhood is near the hill of the same name(). Situated north of the Bremer River, Tivoli is by road north-east of the Ipswich CBD and north-east of the North Ipswich railway workshops. History The Tivoli area had been subdivided and sold as farmland in 1861–63, and the observant purchasers went in for coal mining. The Bremer River is a river that is a tributary of the Brisbane River, located in the Scenic Rim and Brisbane regions of South East Queensland, Australia. The -long Bremer River drains several Scenic Rim valleys in south-east Queensland, including the Fassifern Valley, with its catchment area covering approximately . Most valleys within the catchment have extensive river terraces. The Bremer River system is extremely degraded. Brassall is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the , Brassall had a population of 10,898 people. Geography Brassall has a southern boundary partially marked by the Bremer River and a western alignment along Ironpot Creek. The northern boundary follows the Warrego Highway. Brassall now incorporates part of the old suburb of Raymonds Hill. History The suburb name first appears on a plan drawn by surveyor James Warner on 6 October 1851; however, the origin of the suburb name is unknown. It was also known as Hungry Flats, as was a stop over for bullock teams that were transporting logs from Pine Mountain to Hancocks saw mill at North Ipswich. Mount Crosby Weir
The Mount Crosby Weir is a heritage-listed weir on the Brisbane River at Mount Crosby and Chuwar, both in City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The project was instigated by John Petrie at the end of the 19th century. The town of Brisbane was expanding and seeking more reliable sources of drinking water than Enoggera Dam and Gold Creek Dam could provide. In conjunction with the Mount Crosby Pumping Station, it was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 25 October 2019. Location and features The location was selected because it was just above the upstream tidal flow of seawater at Colleges Crossing. The concrete structure was completed in April 1892. Tivoli Railway Line
The Main Line is a railway line in South East Queensland, Australia. It was opened in a series of sections between 1865 and 1867. It commences at Roma St Station in Brisbane and extends west 161 km to Toowoomba. It is the first narrow gauge main line constructed in the world. The Queensland Heritage Register is a heritage register, a statutory list of places in Queensland, Australia that are protected by Queensland legislation, the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. It is maintained by the Queensland Heritage Council. Wright Family Houses
The Wright Family Houses area heritage-listed group of detached houses at 98/100/106 Mt Crosby Road, Tivoli, City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. It was built from onwards. No. 100 is also known as Oaklands and No. 106 is also known as Wrightlands. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 30 January 2004. History The Wright family houses precinct at 98, 100 and 106 Mt Crosby Road, Tivoli, are 3 timber houses on adjoining allotments built -1903 for John and Elizabeth Wright. The allotments on which these residences are situated were originally a part of the land purchased in 1864 as Portion 66, parish of Chuwar, County of Stanley (43 acres), by Josiah Bowring Sloman, part proprietor of the Queensland Times.
